Also called Amerigo Vespucci Airport, Florence Airport is the gateway to Italy's beautiful Toscana region, one of the country's most popular holiday destinations. Located just 4 kilometers from Florence city center, the airport offers passengers several onward transport options, as well as Duty Free shopping, dining and refreshments during their wait. Situated between the Plain of Sesto Fiorentino and Castello, Florence Airport lies to the north-west of Florence and covers an area of roughly 115 hectares. There is only one terminal building, which houses Departures on the first floor, and Arrivals on the ground floor.

Passengers arriving at the airport will find an Information Stand in the Arrivals area. The desk is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 9.00 to 19.00 hours, and on Sundays and Easter Monday from 9.00 to 14.00 hours. Here passengers can get information on where to stay in Florence, where to find tourist attractions and how to get to them, and can obtain maps of the city and surrounding region.
Florence Airport is a hub for international airlines like Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa, Swiss Air, Iberia, Air France and KLM, as well as Alitalia, Italy's flagship carrier. Arrivals and departure destinations include Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris and Zurich, as well as Italian destinations like Rome.
If you arrive at Florence Airport and find your luggage is not on the baggage carousel, the terminal has a Lost & Found desk (tel +39 055 306 1300) that is open from 8.00 to 9.00 hours and again from 15.00 to 16.00 hours. Getting to/from Florence Airport

The shuttle bus stops right outside the terminal, near the exit, inside short-term car park P1. The free shuttle runs every 20 minutes.
The Volainbus shuttle runs between Florence Airport and the city every 30 minutes, 7 days a week. The operator is Busitalia, and there is a Busitalia Bus Station close to Florence SMN Railway Station in the city center. It takes ca. 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the time of day, to reach the final stop. In the city of Florence the shuttle stops at the Busitalia Bus Station in Via Santa Caterina da Siena only. At the airport the bus stop is just a 150 meter walk from the terminal exit, where the P2 long-term car park is located. The bus stop is signposted in the Arrivals area. A bus ticket costs 6.00 euros for a single journey, and 10.00 euros per person return.
The official taxi operator at Florence airport is Radiotaxi. Their vehicles wait for passengers in front of the terminal. It takes just 15 minutes to reach Florence city center locations. An airport supplement of at least 2.20 euros applies to all fares. During the day a single journey into Florence city center costs around 22.00 euros. During the hours of 22.00 hours and 6.00 hours the fare increases to 25.00 euros and on public holidays the standard fare is at least 24.00 euros. There is also a supplement of 1.00 euros per piece of luggage.
Various companies provide limousine services with drivers who Meet & Greet passengers arriving at Florence Airport. There are several desks at the terminal where travelers can arrange transfers between Florence Airport and their final destination.
Since spring 2019 there is also a tram service that runs between Florence Airport and the edge of the city. The fare is the same as for city buses, 1.50 euros per person, and tickets are available online. It's also possible to buy a ticket that comes as an SMS to travelers' mobile devices, but this service costs a little extra, namely 1.80 euros per ticket. As with the shuttle bus, tickets are only valid for 90 minutes. The tram takes 20 minutes for the trip between Florence Airport and the city. The tram runs between the hours of 05.06 and 23.59 hours during the week, and on Friday and Saturday it runs between 05.06 and 01.44 hours. The airport tram arrives at Piazza dell'Unita Italiana.
